Pilates
Cassie’s first exposure to Pilates began in group classes in the early 90’s in Pasadena, CA. In 2000 she graduated from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Anthropology and minor in dance. After college she danced professionally on the East coast until a back injury led her to return to Pilates in search of a solution. Within a year, her pain was gone, and a deeper understanding of alignment and muscular balance was established.
Her two year Pilates teaching certification was done under Karen H. Carlson of the Physical Mind Institute and was followed by a year studying under master teacher Jillian Hessel. Cassie has also studied with master teachers Kathy Grant, Rael Isacowitz, Karen Clippinger and Kathy Corey.
Her Pilates work is characterized by an emphasis on stabilization and mobilization with an eye toward modifications for every body and mind. She believes that Pilates can benefit anyone by improving posture, strength, flexibility, and balance leading to injury prevention and a better functioning, more comfortable body.
Cassie is especially interested in specialty training in the areas of sports and dance performance enhancement, pre and post natal exercise, injury recovery, osteoporosis concerns and management of pain.
